Licensing type

Post by KaRaM »

Hi team,

as a new Korg user I wanted to buy your application but the licensing you provide hesitated me.

Machine ID usage is restrictive model that doesn't respond to Windows users habits nowadays. Just as an example, I'm a Mac user that uses Windows on VMs on different Mac machines and I don't have any PC at my home. Your offering doesn't fit to my setup at all since I change my working MacBook once a year.
I'll be glad to have an option to move my subscription from one machine/VM to another maintaining only one active subscription. This is easily done with in-app activation workflow that communicates with a backend service to track the active subscriptions per registered buyer.

Another thing is the perpetual licensing you offer, you need to consider yearly subscription model with smaller early fee. The second option offers much better satisfaction in customers and will maintain the constant cash flow for you.

I'm sure there is really small team behind this product, but as an officially offered product by Korg you need to improve your product management.

Cheers...

Hi,

We do take on board, what you say, however, our current model is what best fits our vision at this moment.
It may not be suitable towards your work flow, but surely is, to the majority of users.
If we start making them dynamic, then it can lead to many vulnerabilities and misuse.
Obviously we have our reasons as to why the licensing operates in such way, but it is what it is.

Perhaps you should stick to a single Mac with Bootcamp to a have a long term fix.

Thank you for your response!

Of course, it is up to you to keep your service in a good shape.

One last question, do you support VMs at all?
I was not able to start your application on Win10 under Parallels since there was not any message shown that informs me about the problem.

Thank you!

Hi,

As outlined in our FAQ Page: https://www.korgpamanager.com/faq/

  • KORG PA Manager does NOT work under Virtual Machines (VMWare / Parrallels and any other VM)
You'll need to use the Native Windows version. Bootcamp is also supported on Mac platforms.
